In this episode we get to see Sinon’s life
in the real world and we find out that her real name is Asada Shino and her
past as well. When it comes to Kirito, he finally link starts into Gun Gale
Online, but unfortunately we still don’t see him in game.
The episode starts with Shino being
cornered in the street by three girls from her school. They ask her to give
them some money and Sinon refuses. Then, the leader of the crew point at her
like she is having a pistol, something that Shino can’t stand as we find out
that she has some trauma with guns. On this moment, Shinkawa Kyouji save her by
pretending he’s calling the police, so the girls that were bullying here
escape.
After this, Shino and Shinkawa go to a café and we find out that he was the one
who recommended Shino to play Gun Gale Online. They also talk about the Bullet
of Bullets tournament and Sinon entering it with her Hecate II.
When Sinon goes home, she tries to pull out a gun from the drawer. Then, she
has a flashback where we discover Sinon’s past. Her and her mom were going to
the bank when a man came in with a gun ordering the employees to fill up a bag
of money. After shooting one of the employees, the criminal is about to shoot
Sinon’s mother when the little girl bites his hand and take away the gun from
him. When the man tries to get back the gun from Sinon, she shoots him three
times to death. That was the origin of her trauma. After the flashback, we
return to Sinon’s apartment where she can stand with the gun in her hands so
she goes to the bathroom to throw up and then, she returns the gun into the
drawer. Then, she lays in her bed asking for someone to save her.
To continue, we move on to Kirito going to the hospital with his motorbike with
a little cut scene from the moment he tells Asuna he’s moving on to another
game in ALO. When he arrives at the hospital, Aki is waiting for him at his
room. We find out that Aki was the one in charge of Kirito’s rehabilitation
when he came back from SAO. After putting him some electrodes, Kirito lays in
the bed, puts the Amusphere on and link starts. Then, we return to Sinon’s
apartment, where after talking with his uncle in the phone. Then, she tells
that she entered Gun Gale Online to surpass her trauma with guns and become
stronger. After this, she puts on her Amusphere and link starts too.
Finally, the episode ends with the real world Death Gun and we find out that
his next target is Sinon.

So last week I said that her trying to pull
an imaginary trigger would be something related to her backstory. Now we
realize that she has a trauma with guns because she shot a criminal to death in
order to save her mother when she was a little girl. Then she tries to overcome
this trauma by playing and beating the strongest players in Gun Gale Online.
It’s funny how opposite her two sides are.
Sinon is brave and she is able to shoot a gun while Shino is more like a shy
and weak girl who is afraid of guns. Also, Shino uses glasses, something that’s
opposite to a sniper user, since she is able to shoot someone from a long
distance in the game.

Since I’ve read the light novels, I’m able
to repair at some details of the episode. Last week I’ve shown Death Gun’s star
detail from the Opening. This time, we can see that the gun the man used to rob
the bank has the same star detail as the Death Gun. Wink, wink.

Another thing I want to point out, is the
nurse. To be honest, I didn’t remember that Aki was the one in charge of
Kirito’s rehabilitation from the light novel. But returning
to Sword Art Online Extra Edition, I said that Kikuoka was a hint to Gun Gale
Online and so was the nurse that appeared as well. I thought that she was the
one who was going to take care of Kirito while he is playing GGO. But I guess
it wasn’t. Maybe it was just a hint on the fact that Kikuoka always work with beautiful nurses.

Finally, I’ve noticed that when new players
enter Gun Gale Online for the first time, they have the same default outfit as
we can see on the next screenshot and another from Kirito I took on one of the
PV’s. It’s not a secret anymore that GGO Kirito looks like a girl. Next episode
we will finally be able to see Kirito and Sinon together in Gun Gale Online.
