Akame ga Kill! Episode 03: Kill Your Cares

Anything relevant from 3rd episode of Akame ga Kill was the introduction of Night Raid's weapons as Teigu's or Imperial Arms, which their creation is unknown. Then, the other two relevant aspects of the episode were Mine's past as a discriminated foreigner and the introduction of a new character who seems to be a villain and to have an Imperial Arm.

First, the episode starts showing some Night Raid murdering skills by killing some intruders near their secret base. They also showcase how their weapons work, also known as Teigu or Imperial Arms. After this, we jump up into a scene where Tatsumi is woken up by a wet dream with Bullat and then he remembers his old friends from his village (again). Then the next day, Tatsumi goes to wake up Mine as they have to go to a mission together and when he enters Mine’s room she appears to be half naked, so she takes his weapon and tries to shoot Tatsumi, leaving a big hole on the wall.
When they arrive at the city, they help a foreigner child that was being discriminated by a couple citizens. After this, the mission ends up being a date and we find out that that was actually a day off. While Mine and Tatsumi were chilling at a café they notice the noise of people in a certain place of the city, then it happens to be a public execution. While the horrendous scene is happening, we jump up to the Emperial Palace, where we find out how the young Emperor looks like and how the Prime Minister controls him as a puppet by sentencing someone to death.
After this, we return to the base where Najenda explains that their next mission is to kill Iokal, another Minister who is related to the Prime Minister, and his five guards. When they arrive at the mission place, Mine shows some sniper skills by shooting Iokal in the head from a long distance while the other members kill four of the guardians.
Thinking the mission was completed, Mine explains Tatsumi that she was discriminated for being a foreigner when she was a child and then she joined Night Raid to finish this discrimination. When they arrive at the meeting point, the fifth guardian comes out and tries to attack them. Then he dies by Mine’s shoot to the chest while Tatsumi was retaining him.
The episode finishes introducing someone who seems to have an Imperial Arm and who is interested on people who have one as well.

Killing with hands in the pockets
Time for a real villain to appear?

There’s nothing much to talk about this episode. The only thing I found interesting is the fact that every Night Raid member has an Imperial Arm. Bulat has an armor called Incursio, Akame has her one slash one kill blade, Sheele has this big scissors, Leone can have the power of a beast and Lubbock can control wires with his gloves. We don’t know about Najenda yet, but her being the Night Raid leader it almost confirms that she has a Teigu too. My biggest concern is if Tatsumi is going to get a Teigu, since he is a regular blade user. Maybe he will find an Imperial Arm somewhere in the future, maybe his current blade can be upgraded into a Teigu or it’s already a Teigu without anyone knowing it. The Opening features the Teigu’s very well.

Another thing that it’s shown on the Opening it’s a group of seven people who seem to have Imperial Arms too. My theory on this is that either they are a rival revolutionary group that has a different goal than Night Raid or they are an organization from the Imperial Capital.

And finally, I just want to point out Mine and Tatsumi’s pairing. Since the show is called AKAME ga Kill, it’s a little bit confusing on who is the main character here. One thing it’s sure is that Tatsumi is the main guy and on the Opening they put Akame on the same level as him, featuring them at the front of the whole group.

From the beginning I thought it was going to be a little bit of romance between these two and I still think so. But after watching Mine and Tatsumi on this episode, I ship them so bad. You just have to see how they act to each other to notice that something is going on between these two, especially with Mine being a tsunedere girl and blushing after Tatsumi. It’s a fact that Akame and Tatsumi are the main couple on the series, but can we get a love triangle with Mine, please?
