Love troubles are starting. Friend circle
is about to break. The fantasy factor is introduced. That’s basically what 2nd
episode of Glasslip is about. 1st episode was an introduction, 2nd
is when things really start to kick off. There's a lot I want to talk about, but first, let's take a look at the screenshots.

Prediction...

...became true. |
Love hexagon starts to shake. Yuki’s
confession to Touko was pushed by two factors. First, the rivalry he has with
Kakeru made him confess before he does. Second, Touko wanting dates to be allowed
in the group in order to help Yanagi confess to Yuki, something he misunderstands
and finds on it an opportunity to confess to Touko.
When it comes to Yanagi, she wanted to
confess to Yuki for similar reasons. She knew Yuki wanted to surpass Kakeru, so she decided to confess before Yuki does it to Touko.
On the other hand, we find that Sachi
suffers from some illness as she goes to the hospital regularly. The first
seconds of the Opening show the members of the crew when they were younger, and
we can see Touko and Sachi being the closest friends so that’s why she protects
Touko and the group from Kakeru, as she’s the one who cares the most about the
group and she knows Kakeru is the sparkle who will ignite all the trouble.
Another thing we saw on this episode is that Sachi looks at Yuki silently, being
this shown for the second time, it almost confirms she likes Yuki.

Another details I want to point out are the
fact that the anime happens on the very summer we’re in and more cultural
references. This time there were two cultural references, the 1st
one being Chopin’s Nocturne Op9 No2 and the 2nd one being Escher’s
Night and Day.
One thing I didn’t give too much attention last
episode was the conversations during dinner at Touko’s house. I realized that what
happen between Touko and Kakeru happened on a similar way when Touko’s parents
were younger. Last episode they were talking about chickens and this time the talked
about their date at the Kirinkan.
About symbolic elements, the eagle shows up
during Kakeru and Touko’s conversation at the balcony and another symbolic
element I found out are the wind chimes, as sometimes they are shown individually
during the episodes and together during the Opening. There’s 6 of them, so I
guess they represent the protagonists as well.

But, most important thing on this episode
is that we found out what’s Touko and Kakeru’s relation. What I thought were
voices from some flashback, happened not to be true but the opposite. Those
voices come from the future. Also, we discover the purpose of glassmaking on
the story, when Touko stares at something sparkling she can hear these future
fragments.
From what I understood, Kakeru is able to
hear Touko’s future voice while Touko is able to hear Kakeru’s. Then, when they
are together, they can hear their own voice as well as see images from the
future.

But there’s something in this puzzle we’re
missing. The first time Touko heard a voice was at the Summer Festival, the
same day Kakeru arrived to the town. If she was able to hear his voice when
Kakeru was around, how could Kakeru knew about it when he was outside? My
theory is that Kakeru went to the town because he heared something bad is going
to happen to Touko’s crew. The train from the prediction gave me bad feelings,
maybe an accident or maybe is just the trip the crew is going to take the next
day for hiking. We will have to wait.
