Second episode of Akame ga Kill is about
Tatsumi’s first mission as a member of Night Raid. The episode starts with
Tatsumi in front of Sayu and Ieyasu’s tomb. Then, he’s grabbed by Leone to
introduce him to the Night Raid members. After this, the Night Raid leader
Najenda is introduced. When Tatsumi finally accepts to enter the group, he’s
paired up with a distant and cold Akame for cooking and hunting while Mine,
Lubbock and Bulat are out for a mission. After receiving another mission,
Leone, Akame and Tatsumi are sent to the capital in order to kill the oil
merchant Gamal and the member of the Imperial Police Ogre. Before starting the
mission, Leone tells Tatsumi that Akame was captured with her sister by the
government and was trained to become a killer but the she joined Night Raid. Once
they complete the mission, they return to the base for the report but then,
Tatsumi is stripped by Akame just to make sure he isn’t proud enough to hide
any wound that could possibly be poisoned or mortal. After make sure he is
right, Akame stops to be distant and cold. Tatsumi finds out that cooking and
hunting with Akame was just for training purpose and that his next partner will
be Mine.

So basically, this episode shows how
Tatsumi is capable to kill someone as a member of Night Raid as last chapter he
killed Aria just for a personal reason. One thing I realized is the art style
showed when a character who is going to be killed shows how corrupt he is.

Another thing we got to see is a little bit
of Akame’s past. As it’s said in the anime, she was kidnaped with her little
sister and other children to be trained as professional killers but then, she
joined Night Raid. One thing we didn’t get to see is what happened to her
sister. We also discover a little bit of Bullat’s past as a member of the
Imperial Army.

Also, it’s explained that the only members
of Night Raid to have a wanted poster are Najenda, Akame and Bullat. It makes
sense as Akame and Bullat are traitors to the government. We don’t know yet if
Najenda had a past connection to the government as well, but it would make sense
for her to have a wanted poster just because she is the leader of Night Raid.

And finally, at the end of the episode we
find out that Tatsumi is now going to be paired with Mine. In the Opening we
get to see Akame and her little sister and also Mine with messy hair and old
clothes in the middle of the street. So, what I expect for next episode is to
discover some of Mine’s back story as we did in this episode with Akame. I also expect Tatsumi to be paired with each member of Night Raid every episode to discover their backstories.
