Episode 3 of Glasslip was go hiking as I
expected. What disappointed me about this chapter is that we didn’t get to see any
story progress at all besides two future predictions that Touko had. When it
comes to the rest of the episode, it was basically showing the crew bonding in
the mountain.
When it comes to the episode’s title, I think
it doesn’t make sense. Maybe was just a bad translation and the Japanese title actually
means jug of water since Yana and Touko go find some water with it.
The episode starts at the moment it ended
last episode. Kakeru meets Touko at her workshop and at the moment he stepped
at front of it, Touko sees a vision where Yanagi cries. After this, Touko’s
sister comes in and meets Kakeru. After being discovered by the sister, Touko
and Kakeru leave the workshop and he refuses Touko’s invitation to go hiking
saying that it’s better when you do it alone. When next day arrives, we can see
that Sachi can do any physical effort so she goes to the mountain with Hiro’s
sister by car. When all of them meet at the top, Yanagi and Touko go to search
water and then they have the opportunity to talk about what happened with Yuki.
Meanwhile, Yuki starts to think that those two are taking too much time
searching water, so he goes and find the girls and gives Hiro the opportunity
to be alone with Sachi. While Yuki finally finds Touko and Yanagi, Hiro fails
in confessing to Sachi. After this, they all eat and then finally Touko talks
to Yuki and refuses him definitely saying that he is a precious friend. After
this, they wrap up the camp and moments before Sachi leaves with the car, Touko
sees another future fragment with Sachi being sick in bed. Finally, the episode
ends with Touko and her sister taking a bath and talking about what if someone
confesses to them and the sister shipping Touko and Kakeru.

How did he know where she lives? |
|
Prediction time. |
|
What's the point on hiding him? |
|
Typical |
|
Eagles, falcons or whatever... |
|
Sachi knows |
|
Typical car conversation where you just say "YES". |
|
And he is gonna eat all the chickens. |
|
Just go with him! |
|
Sachi definitely knows. |
|
We all knew how this was going to end |
|
Ganbare! ;) |
|
And it happened. |
|
At least, they are able to talk about it. |

SURPRISE MOTHERF... |

WTF! That was a manly scream |

How innocent... |

These jokes, that's what friendship is about. |

Wow, that's so many books to take into the mountain |

Nice try Hiro... |

Fanservice to finish the episode. |
There wasn’t any newcultural reference this
time. But we can see that Camus' "Exile and the Kingdom" shown on 1st episode appears again.

Footage from Episode 03 |
Even though it wasn’t any story progress,
the episode was interesting because it shows the friendship bond that the protagonists
have. Touko and Yana talking about the love triangle they are in even though
Touko knows she’s going to make her cry, Yuki giving Hiro an opportunity to be
alone with Sachi, Hiro and Sachi cute moments or Hiro and Yuki joking around… All
of these shows how close they are to each other.
Another thing that shows these bonds is how
Sachi cares and notice that something is wrong with Touko. I really like her
character as she isn’t that much of a talker and since chapter one many shots
of Sachi are just her staring at someone silently and analyzing and realizing
what’s happening around, a clear example is when she realizes something about
Hiro even if he failed on confessing to her. Last episode we found out that
Sachi suffers some illness and even though we don’t know what kind of illness,
in this chapter it’s seen that she can do any physical effort and in addition
we can see a future fragment about her being sick on bed.
When it comes to Kakeru, we can see the
eagles that represent him. I don’t know if it’s exactly an eagle, a falcon or
whatever, what is important about this bird is the fact that it can fly and it’s
mostly lone. Kakeru is just like this bird. He is the only protagonist to be independent
from Touko’s crew, being free to do whatever he wants.

One thing that bothers me in this episode
is the future fragment Touko had in the mountain. If Touko was able to see a
future fragment, then Kakeru had to be around on that moment. Let’s wait for
next week to find out why he was not shown.
